From a young age, I enjoyed being recognized. I never missed an opportunity to gain recognition. At work, I poured my heart into my tasks, often judging and disregarding those I perceived as not working hard or giving up quickly. With a supportive and encouraging team leader, I studied and worked diligently without needing to be told. I even looked forward to working late and often thought about going in early.
- 《QTin》 ‘January 1 Testimony’
While it would be easy to avoid a stranger, facing my stepfather, who is now part of my family, every day was terrifying. I still endured it. As I became an adult, the pain from my past and the stress I experienced at work erupted, leading to physical symptoms, hallucinations, and auditory hallucinations. My whole body ached, I saw dead people everywhere, and it felt like someone was constantly calling my name, which filled me with anxiety and fear. Things were so difficult for me that I wanted to quit my job and die without telling anyone. Even though I was a small group leader at the time, I couldn’t bring myself to share my situation with the community.
- 《QTin》 ‘January 2 Testimony’
In today’s passage, Naomi does not hide her shame but instead repents and testifies in front of the gossiping people (vv. 20-21). Likewise, by openly sharing in my community, I received grace in interpreting my situation, and I could honestly share my testimony with friends I had been avoiding. Just as God had compassion on me when I nearly turned away from Him in pursuit of educational prestige, He called me to endure hardship. By simply staying connected to the community, God led me to Bethlehem at the time of the barley harvest (v. 22), granting me abundant grace in my studies and work. As my family’s debts are being resolved and my relationship with my parents improves, I find my desires creeping back in as my circumstances become easier. However, I will remember today’s message and seek God’s plans and wisdom, living one day at a time.
